Nuffic invites international students
13 November – Day of the International Student in The Hague
Nuffic has once again hired the World Forum for the Day of the International Student (DIS). The event will take place on Saturday 13 November. The World Forum, one of the Netherlands’ largest and best-known venues, will undoubtedly be packed as thousands of students are expected to participate, just like in previous years.
Nuffic, the Netherlands organization for international cooperation in higher education, organizes this event every year as an expression of gratitude for the fact that so many young international talents have chosen to study in the Netherlands rather than in another country.
As in previous years, the programme is a good mix of education and fun. In the morning students can visit a few famous landmarks in The Hague at a reduced entrance fee. The excursions include the miniature city Madurodam and the Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis, with works of (among others) Johannes Vermeer. In the afternoon there are many useful workshops about building a career, either at home or in the Netherlands, as well as presentations and cultural activities. Students will also find stands of Dutch alumni associations: more and more of these associations are being set up by former students in various countries. The day will be closed off with diner and a party.
Experience has shown that many DIS participants meet friends and fellow students from their home country who follow a course elsewhere in the Netherlands, which is always a nice surprise.
