• DinoDome GaiaPark officieel open
  Het GaiaPark in Kerkrade opent woensdag officieel zijn DinoDome. Dat is een permanente, overdekte tentoonstelling over de dinosauriers. Verder is er een auditorium en zijn er vergaderzalen. Het koepelvormige gebouw heeft 5 miljoen euro gekost. Het was al sinds begin mei open voor het publiek.

  Former US secretary of state Madeleine Albright has consented to join the supervisory board of a new research and educational institute in The Hague, provisionally named the Institute for Global Justice. In cooperation with Leiden University, the institute is to issue prestigious degrees in peace, law and international security.

There's the Dutch retailer Hema on the left, and on the right the Maroc Bazaar – new Europe in miniature. Since the spread of the European Union, people in North Brabant and new arrivals from Eastern Europe live side-by-side. The don't really understand each other, but they can't live without each other either.

• Maastricht: alleen door met wietpas
  Maastricht begint desnoods als enige Limburgse stad met een wietpas voor koffieshops. Als de andere zeven Limburgse gemeenten met koffieshops definitief een streep halen door hun aanvankelijke steun voor het plan ‘Limburg trekt zijn grens', gaat burgemeester Gerd Leers zijn gemeenteraad voorstellen dan maar solo te gaan.
