Vocational training is a flop

December 12, 2006 1 Comment

Two out of every five students who go to MBO vocational training colleges leave without any qualifications, the MBO council said today. Some 40% of the population studies at an MBO college.

MBO or Middelbaar Beroeps Onderwijs stands for vocational education and training and is followed by some 40% of school leavers. There are currently 630,000 students in the MBO sector, 485,000 of them taking part in regular courses and the rest following adult education programmes. The government invests about €2.6bn – 12% of the education budget – on MBO schools and colleges.

@vincent: Good to see the plan taking shape. You defined two challenges (great!! there’s lessons to be learned here ):a. It’s still difficult to make something commercial. Why do you think so?What is difficult about it?What would make it easy or easier?b. The explanation for this app is too longWhat’s the shortest version you can produce?I hope this helps…Where is your personal goal? Here’s a post with an overview of ‘creative leadership’ at KABK:
